Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb and Beach Walk

After 2 days of rain we were ready to get busy with the tour schedule this morning when we all awoke to bright sunshine. Today we tackled the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb and the Coogee to Bondi Beach Walk.

Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb
We arrived at 10:00am for our 10:15am climb time. The whole thing takes about 3 1/2 hours from start to finish.

Once we were ready to go it was all step-by-step:
Step 1 - Sign the release form!
Step 2 - Breathalyzer test - No drinking before the climb!
Step 3 - Get dressed! You have to wear the official bridge climb wear so you don't distract any of the drivers as you are climbing the bridge. This was my second bridge climb but Michael and Eric's first!

Here we are in our bridge climb "uniforms"...classy!

The Bridge Climb is a 3 ½ hour guided journey to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It takes you along the outer arch of the Bridge on catwalks and ladders all the way to the summit, 134 metres above Sydney Harbour.

In Climb groups of up to 14 people, you’ll be led by one of BridgeClimb’s professional Climb Leaders on an adventure of the world’s most recognisable Bridge. The steady incline to the summit leaves you free to focus your attention on your Sydney experience, with opportunities to witness 360 degree views of Sydney, including east to the Sydney Opera House, west to the Blue Mountains and the Harbour city surrounds.

In our group we had a family from Italy, a couple from Canada, a couple from Lebanon, some people from the UK and of course the three of us.

Lunch
We were FAMISHED after all that bridge walking and climbing so we ended up at our favorite local pizza place by the bridge, Australian Heritage Hotel. Eric was ready for a large BBQ Emu pizza (seriously) but they were all out. So we had 1/2 Kangaroo and 1/2 other variations. Eric, who is a super picky eater [Michael, who is a vegetarian, oddly enough is generally easier to please] has eaten Emu and now Kangaroo on this trip! I'm sure his friends and family will be shocked!

Beach Walking Tour - Coogee to Bondi
Since the sun was blazing out in the afternoon we decided to walk the beaches from Coogee beach to Bondi Beach. It was a GREAT day for walking and sweating. Just to rub it in a bit the temps were in the mid 80s today with high humidity....no, we aren't missing Chicago weather right now.

This is the map of our walk and some pictures. The weather was so incredible with a nice light breeze, crashing waves and lots of people out and about.

We finally made it back to the hotel around 7pm and we were all worn out! No rest for the weary though...tomorrow we have to be up and on a bus for a Blue Mountains Tour at 7:30am. The weather will be even hotter.
